About Me

Originally from San José, Costa Rica, Paula Rodríguez Alvarez (she/her) is a dancer, artist, and choreographer. She started her training at Danz Performing Arts Center in Costa Rica in contemporary, jazz, ballet, modern, hip hop, and tap. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Performance and Choreography and a minor in Psychology from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. Paula has been part of multiple productions, such as Emerging Artists and Faculty and Guest Artists Concerts. She has been featured in works by Trisha Brown, Staycee Pearl, Dale Lam, Carlos Jones, and Irving Gonzales and Alfonso Cervera. She is also involved in SRU Dance Theater, Palenque Afro-Colombian Dance Ensemble, and the National Honor Society of Dance Arts, as well as stage managing and lighting design at SRU. Most recently, Paula presented a co-choreographed duet at the ACDA National Festival (2025).
